Established in loving memory of Deacon Brandon Shawnte Howell Sr., who passed away unexpectedly in May 2026, this scholarship honors a devoted husband, father, community leader, and graduate of Wayne Community College’s Truck Driver Training program. Brandon was passionate about serving others, mentoring young people, and creating opportunities for those around him. His wife of 23 years, Brandi Howell, established the scholarship to carry forward his legacy by helping students pursue careers in truck driving, just as Brandon did. In its very first month, the fund has already provided scholarships to five WCC students, ensuring that Brandon’s spirit of generosity and commitment to helping others will continue to make a difference for years to come.
